The Annual Symposium of Computer Science in Finland 2018 (Tietojenkäsittelytieteen päivät) is arranged in Turku 4-5 June. The organisers are the Finnish Society for Computer Science (Tietojenkäsittelytieteen Seura), Turku Centre for Computer Science, the Dept. of Future Technologies at the University of Turku, and Information Technology at Åbo Akademi University. The event gathers people active or interested in the field of computer science, broadly conceived. It is open to anyone interested.
The theme for this year’s event is Computer science research is everywhere. Computer science has its own strong identity as a foundational science and has in addition to that also become central in the developments of other scientific fields and technologies. The programme offers a multifaceted overview of the importance of computer science in different areas of research, such as biomedicine, digital humanities, autonomous systems, machine learning as well as of the mathematical foundations of computer science.
Awards for the best Finnish doctoral thesis and master’s thesis in computer science, respectively, will be given at the event, and the Researcher of the year in information systems will be announced. The language of the symposium is this year English.
