A Guide to the OpenMHP environment
misc: : A Guide to the OpenMHP environment
Abstract:
Since the year 2002 the first commercial MHP receivers (DVB-T) were
publicly available in Finland. Right from the beginning there were some
interactive applications and content available. But so called killer
applications which would have raised the interest of public to buy MHP
receivers were missing. It led to situation that mostly basic DVB
receivers were sold without the support of MHP middleware. The
conclusion: In order to accelerate the public interest to MHP receivers
new innovative content and services based on DVB-MHP specification are
needed. As a free open source project, OpenMHP aims to boost service
and application development based on the DVB-MHP specification.
Individual developers, small companies, universities and other
organizations can easily start the development work through the aid
of the free open source software. Generally community based open source
products provide only a small amount of documentation, and other support
information. The absence of good documentation may prevent many users to
start using the software. This guide and example applications will give
a good introduction to the OpenMHP environment.
