Graduate School
The Graduate School offers a framework for studying for the doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Communication Systems, and Microelectronics. It is open for students from everywhere. Study time for a full-time student is expected to be 4 years.
There are presently about 100 students at TUCS Graduate School. Around 35% of the students come from abroad.
Each student, who is accepted to the TUCS Graduate School, is placed in one of the TUCS Research laboratories,and is assigned a personal supervisor from one of the five Departments.The TUCS main areas of research are:
- Algorithmics
- Bioinformatics
- Communication Systems
- Discrete Mathematics
- Embedded Systems
- Information Systems
- Mathematical Modelling
- Microelectronics
- Software Engineering
The students are expected to take courses from at least two of these areas. The advanced level courses are offered by the departments and the language of instruction is English.

TUCS Application Round, Fall 2010
TUCS Graduate School is open for applications from September 6th to October 8th 2010, 4 pm (Finnish time).
This application round is for self-financed PhD studies beginning in January, 2011. Also, a few funded places are available. This funded position application round is for increasing the gender balance and balance in the distribution of study places between participating universities. Therefore especially high quality applications from female students or from students to be registered to Åbo Akademi University or Turku School of Economics for PhD studies are encouraged.
TUCS Graduate School committee
The Graduate School (GS) committee is responsible for the handling of most of the questions regarding the Graduate School.
