Simulation (2017 Autumn)

Organisation: UTU / Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics

Credit Points: 5

Responsible Person: Yury Nikulin

Course code: SMAT5301

Content:
This course brings together various principles and techniques used in simulation. It will cover basics from simulation methodology, including questions on experimental design and data analysis.

Some recent advances, such as object-oriented simulation, on-line simulation as well as parallel and distributed simulation will also be considered. Different real life applications across a large range of manufacturing and service industries will be pointed and scrutinized. The special focus will be given to discrete event simulation and comparison simulation versus optimization techniques.
