Turku Centre for Computer Science (TUCS) the coordinating organization of research and education of Information and Communication Systems (ICT) in the Turku region. TUCS is a joint special unit of the University of Turku – an internationally acknowledged, multidisciplinary scientific university, Åbo Akademi University – an extensive Swedish-speaking scientific university with 7 faculties, the Turku School of Economics – one of the largest institutes in Finland for education in economic science, and Turun ammattikorkeakoulu – a multidisciplinary institute of higher education.
TUCS coordinates research, education and other interaction within the society, in the field of Information Technology. These activities are carried out in the TUCS Master's and Graduate Schools, and TUCS Research Centres, with a wide international focus. The focus on Bachelor level education is on national level, where it is provided in Finnish by University of Turku and Turku School of Economics, in Swedish by Åbo Akademi University and in English by Turun ammattikorkeakoulu.
At the departments participating in TUCS there are presently about 35 professors, 65 Ph.D. level researchers, 100 doctoral students and 2000 Master's students.
